Troops Pound Terrorists, Level Enclaves in Timbuktu, Bulabulin Forest
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intensified offensive operations in the North-East, crushing terrorist cells and destroying key enclaves in the Timbuktu axis and Bulabulin Forest areas of Borno State.
The coordinated operations, conducted under Operation Desert Sanity V, involved troops of Sector 2 in conjunction with the Air Component Command, leading to significant battlefield gains across multiple fronts.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sani Uba.
On the Bulabulin Forest axis, troops, working alongside elements of the Stabilisation Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force, cleared terrorist hideouts in Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti and Yaro Shuwari, as well as surrounding locations along the Kamadogu Yobe stretch.
Military said the troops made contact with terrorists at Malam Shiri Village, where they executed a tactical flanking manoeuvre, neutralising 11 fighters and forcing others to flee with injuries.
The operation also led to the destruction of logistics hubs and recovery of nine AK-47 rifles, three PKT machine guns, five motorcycles, assorted ammunition, and materials used for improvised explosive devices.
In a separate but coordinated engagement along the Wajiroko–Sabongari corridor in the Timbuktu axis, troops engaged fleeing terrorists with support from air assets, killing seven insurgents, while traces of blood and body parts indicated additional casualties.
Recovered items from the operation include rifles, RPG tubes, ammunition, bandoliers, and communication equipment.
The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai was said to have played a decisive role by providing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support, as well as precision airstrikes on identified terrorist positions and escape routes.
Troops have since launched follow-up operations along the Forfor, Multe, and Wajiroko axes to track down fleeing fighters and prevent regrouping.
The military high command commended the troops for their resilience and urged them to sustain the operational tempo to consolidate gains and restore stability in the region.
