CAS Aneke Restates Commitment to Aircraft Safety, Operational Readiness
The Nigerian Air Force has reiterated its commitment to strengthening aircraft safety and sustaining operational excellence as part of ongoing efforts to enhance national security operations.
This position was restated by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, while declaring open a two-day Airworthiness Seminar held on April 28, 2026, at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force in Abuja. The seminar, organised by the Aircraft Engineering Branch, convened senior engineering officers, maintenance commanders, logistics experts and other aviation stakeholders to examine strategies for improving aircraft safety, fleet sustainability and operational readiness.
Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi, the Air Chief emphasised that airworthiness remains a critical requirement for effective air power projection. He stressed that the safety and reliability of NAF platforms are central to mission success, particularly in ongoing counter-terrorism and internal security operations across the country.
According to him, the seminar aligns with his command philosophy of transforming the Air Force into a more capable and mission-ready force driven by innovation, discipline and high operational standards. He added that strict adherence to maintenance procedures, continuous capacity development and a strong culture of professionalism would remain central to sustaining combat effectiveness.
A key highlight of the seminar was a technical presentation by Clementi Giorgio, Executive Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of the International Test Pilot School. He delivered insights on global best practices in flight test safety, airworthiness certification and emerging technologies in aircraft maintenance management.
The seminar is expected to reinforce the Nigerian Air Force’s maintenance culture, improve operational efficiency and strengthen its readiness to meet evolving air power demands in defence of the nation.
