BREAKING: Top Politician Withdraws from Lagos 2027 Governorship Race Under APC

A major twist has hit the race for the 2027 governorship election in Lagos, as politician Abdul-Azeez Adediran, widely known as Jandor, has stepped down from the contest.

Jandor confirmed his withdrawal from the race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The move followed the presentation of the state Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, to President Bola Tinubu as the preferred consensus candidate of the powerful Governor’s Advisory Council ahead of the 2027 elections.

Jandor, who flew the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2023 governorship election, had only recently defected to the APC. He made his interest in contesting for the party’s ticket public just last week, raising expectations of a competitive primary.

While Jandor did not immediately give full details behind his decision, political observers believe the emergence of a consensus candidate may have influenced his withdrawal.

As of the time of filing this report, further details surrounding Jandor’s next political steps remain unclear.
