Troops Rescue Hostages, Recover N8m Ransom in Plateau Operation
Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered ₦8 million ransom in a coordinated operation in Plateau State.
The operation, conducted by troops deployed in Sector 9 Shendam on April 25, 2026, followed sustained intelligence efforts after the victim, a female, was abducted on April 19 from Bauna area in Shendam Local Government Area.
Military sources disclosed that the breakthrough came after the arrest and interrogation of a suspect, who provided critical information that led troops to the victim’s location in Padam Forest, within Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.
The victim was subsequently rescued unharmed and taken to a general hospital in Shendam for medical evaluation before being reunited with her family.
In addition to the rescue, troops recovered the sum of ₦8 million, which had earlier been paid as ransom by the victim’s family. The money has since been returned to the family.
Authorities said preliminary findings indicate the involvement of a kidnapping syndicate operating within the Shendam and Qua’an Pan axis. Troops have intensified follow-up operations to dismantle the network and apprehend other fleeing members.
The military reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the joint operations area, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts.
