The Peoples Redemption Party has welcomed former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, into its fold, describing his defection as a major boost to its push for national renewal.
The party said Baba-Ahmed’s decision to join the PRP would strengthen its campaign for credible leadership, improved security, economic recovery and a more accountable system of government.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, the PRP said the former LP vice-presidential candidate’s entry marked “a new dawn” for the party and for Nigerians seeking an alternative political platform.
The party said Baba-Ahmed and his supporters across the country would add fresh momentum to its efforts to reposition Nigeria through disciplined leadership and people-centred governance.
According to the PRP, its doors remain open to patriotic Nigerians who share its vision of building a just, secure and united country.
The party urged citizens across political, ethnic and religious divides to support its agenda, saying Nigeria needs a leadership model capable of moving the country beyond slogans to measurable progress.
It listed its priorities as restoring integrity in public leadership, tackling insecurity through institutional reforms, rebuilding the economy, restructuring the country for fairness and strengthening critical sectors such as education, healthcare and rural development.
The PRP said Baba-Ahmed’s arrival would further energise the party ahead of future political contests, especially as opposition parties continue to realign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
