
The governor of Sokoto state, Dr Ahmed Aliyu, has urged newly turbaned district heads to always consult widely before taking any decision affecting their various domains.
He also called on them to prioritise community development and the restoration of sustainable peace, unity and security across the state as well as Nigeria in general.
The governor stated this Sunday in Wamakko, headquarters of Wamakko local government area during the Traditional Turbaning Royal Shaving Ceremony held in honour of the newly turbaned Baraden Wamakko and District Head of Wamakko, Alhaji Ahmad Barade.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, he promised the new district heads of the state government’s sustained support to them to succeed.
“We will accord all the district heads the utmost support they require to succeed in the running of their domains,” he said.
He admonished the new district head, the Baraden Wamakko, to stay on the course of their forefathers so as to sustain the integrity of the highly revered Baraden Wamakko family.
Aliyu also admonished the new Baraden Wamakko to use his wealth of experience to take the district to greater heights.
He said: “Leadership needs more compassion and passion while his subjects should give him the necessary cooperation to succeed.”
Also speaking, the Sultan of Sokoto, Dr Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, represented by the Wazirin Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, also pledged support to all the new district heads.
