According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, its agents have recovered drugs worth around N16.9 billion from three illegal drug warehouses that were concealed behind a residential estate in Lagos State’s Okota neighborhood.
“Two Million Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand (2,360,000) pills of high-potency tramadol 225mg and One Million Nine Hundred and Nine Thousand Four Hundred (1,909,400) bottles of codeine syrup” were seized as a result of the raid, according to a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the organization’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
According to the NDLEA, the intelligence-led operation was conducted on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Park View Estate, Ago Palace Way, Okota, at 98 Olukayode Awofisayo Street and 5 Charles Ndumetu Street, where the warehouses were uncovered.
The agency reports that 34 cartons of tramadol tablets hidden within the estate and 19,094 cartons containing 1,909,400 bottles of codeine syrup were recovered.
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) responded to the development by characterizing the operation as a significant disruption of a drug trafficking network that operates within residential communities.
“The size of this recovery, nearly 4.3 million units of lethal substances, is a testament to the fact that our officers are staying several steps ahead of these merchants of death,” Marwa stated.
He continued by saying that the concealing of such amounts in residential areas demonstrated the efficacy of the agency’s intelligence activities as well as the strategies used by drug cartels.
“To find such volumes hidden within residential estates like Park View and busy hubs like Okota shows the desperation of these cartels, but it also highlights the peerless intelligence capabilities of our team,” he said.
Marwa emphasized that the agency will continue to target and dismantle criminal networks wherever they operate, warning that there would be no safe haven for drug traffickers in the nation.
“We will find you, we will dismantle your networks, and we will bring the full weight of the law upon you,” he declared, sending a clear message to anyone who believe they can profit from ruining our children’s futures.
