The Osun State Police Command has arrested a suspect who was seen in a viral video assaulting female police officers.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, made this known on Tuesday during a press briefing at the police headquarters, Osogbo.
According to Gotan, the suspect involved in the assault on the female officers was tracked and arrested on April 27, 2026 after fleeing to Edo State in an attempt to evade capture.
The CP said, “The incident, which circulated widely online, showed the suspect attacking female officers on lawful traffic duty with a stick and shovel.
“Following the disturbing incident, I immediately launched a coordinated intelligence-led operation to apprehend the perpetrator.
“The suspect is currently in custody, while his motorcycle has been recovered, and investigations are ongoing ahead of prosecution.”
The Osun police boss condemned the act, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable and warned that assaults on officers performing lawful duties would not be tolerated.
