The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat’s 2027 governorship ambition got a major boost on Tuesday with endorsement by the Governance Advisory Council, the highest advisory body of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state.
This is coming barely 24 hours after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu publicly announced the deputy governor as his anointed candidate.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat said GAC has also unanimously endorsed Hamzat as the preferred candidate of the APC group.
The post indicated that FAC leader, Tajudeen Olusi, made the announcement during a meeting at Lagos House, Marina.
The post reads, “The Governance Advisory Council, GAC, today unanimously endorsed and adopted the Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr Obafemi Hamzat to be a consensus candidate for the 2027 elections in Lagos State.”
According to the post, the GAC members also announced that they paid for Hamzat’s governorship nomination form.
