Pop Princess Britney Spears Hit With a DUI!

Britney Spears has been charged with driving under the influence in Southern California, authorities confirmed.

The charge stems from a March arrest, and a hearing is set for Monday, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. Because the allegation is classified as a misdemeanor, Spears is not required to attend the proceeding.

“Her attorney can make the appearance for her,” the office said.

Shortly after the arrest, Spears entered a treatment program voluntarily following encouragement from those around her. Her representative called the situation “completely inexcusable” and added, “hopefully, this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”

Officials said that in similar cases, outcomes may include probation, required classes and fines, particularly when a defendant takes steps toward rehabilitation.

“The DUI case will be handled according to our standard protocols,” the district attorney’s office said.

Spears’ conservatorship, which lasted from 2008 to 2021, placed control of her personal, financial and medical decisions in the hands of court-appointed overseers, mostly her father.

After years of fighting for freedom, a Los Angeles judge ultimately terminated the arrangement in November 2021, restoring her legal independence.
