Uncertainty has continued to trail the political future of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso amid growing rumours that both men may be on their way out of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The speculation follows their noticeable absence from key party activities and recent opposition gatherings.
The two former governors have come under intense scrutiny after they failed to make appearances or issue statements around an opposition summit held in Ibadan on April 25.
Their silence also extended to the aftermath of the Supreme Court judgment delivered on April 30, which affirmed David Mark as the recognised leader of the ADC.
There are growing claims that both men may be uneasy about facing a competitive primary election within the party. This comes as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is reportedly positioning himself strongly for the ADC presidential ticket.
The possibility of a three-way contest among heavyweights is said to be creating tension behind the scenes.
Supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso, however, have dismissed the speculation. They insist that both leaders remain committed to a broader opposition alliance.
Attention has now shifted to the much-anticipated “OK Movement” unity summit scheduled to hold in Abuja. The event is expected to bring together loyalists and political stakeholders aligned with both figures.
