Customs Graduates Junior Officers, Urges Professionalism, Service Excellence
The Nigeria Customs Service has charged newly trained officers to uphold professionalism, deliver measurable impact and maintain high standards of service following the graduation of participants from Junior Course 24.
The ceremony, held on April 30, 2026, at the Ahmed Makarfi Hall in Abuja, marked the completion of a three-month intensive training programme at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada.
Representing the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Finance, Administration and Technical Services, Kikelomo Adeola, urged the graduands to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course to improve operational effectiveness within the Service.
She emphasised that the training was designed to prepare officers for the complexities of modern customs operations, noting that its success would ultimately be measured by the impact of participants in their respective assignments.
In his remarks, the Commandant of the College, Dow Gaura, described the graduation as a major milestone for both the institution and the officers. He commended participants for their discipline, resilience and commitment throughout the programme, while also acknowledging the support of the Customs leadership in advancing capacity development initiatives.
The event featured the conferment of the Past Junior Staff Course (PJSC) title on the graduands, alongside the presentation of certificates and awards. Participants, in goodwill messages, described the training as rigorous and transformative, highlighting its role in shaping their professional outlook.
Activities marking the graduation included a regimental dinner night held on April 28, aimed at strengthening camaraderie and reinforcing core values of leadership, discipline and service.
The completion of Junior Course 24 underscores the College’s continued focus on developing competent and forward-looking officers to support the mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service and contribute to national development.
