United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Development programme (UNDP), have rated Kebbi a pace setter in the provision of quality health services.
Representatives of the three UN bodies gave the verdict during a courtesy visit to Governor Nasir Idris, in Birnin Kebbi, Wednesday.
UNICEF Country Representative, for Nigeria, Ms. Wafaa Saeed, commended Governor Nasir Idris for introducing the Health Insurance Scheme, which has helped many families to have easy and affordable access to healthcare, enabling them to utilize part of what they would have spent on family upkeep.
“I visited a Primary Health Centre before coming here, and saw an elderly woman carrying a card in her hand for health insurance.
“With a smile on her face, she informed me that the scheme has assisted her to save money to feed her family.
“Your Excellency, UNICEF commends you for your human kindness by bringing succour to people looking for health care,” Ms. Saeed said.
