The Zaria correspondent of Blueprint.ng newspaper, Mohammed Habib, has lost his only son, Mubarak Habib.
Mubarak, aged 29, died at a Ahmadu Bello University Teaching hospital Zaria on Wednesday afternoon after a brief illness.
Confirming the development, the grieving father said, “I lost my only son. He was 29 years old.”
Habib said the deceased had been sick for a couple of days before he passed away at about noon.
The news of his death has thrown family members, friends and colleagues into mourning.
Sympathisers have continued to condole with the family, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.
