The Lagos State Government has responded to Governor Babajide Sanwo -olu alleged illness. The state governor is in good health, and no need for any apprehesion, the government said.
The state government’s reaction comes on the heels of a recent report by an online news medium, to the effect that Governor Sanwo Olu has been directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to handover to his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat because of his health challenges, which has prevented him from perform his duties as the state’s chief executive.
But in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, , Gboyega Akosile, the state government said the report was false and misleading, and should be ignored by the public.
According to the governor’s spokesperson, the state government is deeply concerned on the impact of the report on the public, saying the governor is not ill and has not been directed by the president ‘to resign on health grounds.”
The state government also cited Governor Sanwo-olu meeting with is Deputy as a proof that he’s not indisposed, urging the public to discard the report about his ill-health.
The government faulted a report published by an online platform, insisting that it had no basis in fact.
Part of the statement,” We have noted with concern a false report by … alleging that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been ‘ordered to resign on health grounds’ with the Deputy Governor set to take over.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu remains in good health, of sound mind, and is actively discharging his duties as Governor of Lagos State.”
The magazine reports that Governor Sanwoolu, on Monday, endorsed Dr Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election, at a meeting attended by the party’s stalwart in the state, including all the Local Government Chairmen in the state.
