Azhar was killed after being struck by an unidentified vehicle, as per a report by News18 Hindi.
However, there has been no official confirmation from Pakistani authorities so far.
Close aide of Masood Azhar
Salman Azhar was considered a close associate of Masood Azhar and was believed to play a significant role in the group’s operational activities.
His death adds to a growing list of senior militant figures who have died under unclear circumstances in Pakistan in recent years.

In June 2025, another Jaish commander, Maulana Abdul Aziz Isar, died in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
While some reports attributed his death to a heart attack, the exact cause remained unverified. Isar had been accused of involvement in multiple terror plots in India, including links to the 2016 Nagrota attack.
Recent attacks on militant leaders
On April 26, Sheikh Yusuf Afridi, a close aide of Hafiz Saeed, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
In another incident, Amir Hamza survived a gun attack in Lahore but sustained serious injuries, as per the report.
