Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (born August 5, 1968) is a Nigerian politician, diplomat, lawyer, entrepreneur, and beauty pageant winner. She is now serving as the Federal Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The widow of Biafran President Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu has won many international pageants, including Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Miss Africa, and Miss Intercontinental.
Formerly a presidential advisor, she served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Ghana until becoming its ambassador to Spain in 2012. She is also Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and the current Minister of State Foreign Affairs, having been sworn in on November 4, 2024.
However, President Bola Tinubu has named Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of Foreign Affairs, a promotion from her previous post as Minister of State in the same ministry.
The ascension comes after Amb Yusuf Tuggar resigned to pursue his governorship ambitions in the 2027 elections. The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, signed a statement on Wednesday confirming this.
Onanuga also announced the nomination of Sola Enikanolaiye of Kogi State as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation.

Bianca Odinakachukwu Olivia Odumegwu-Ojukwu , the sixth child of former Anambra State Governor Christian Onoh and his wife Carol, a college principal, grew up in rural Ngwo with her seven siblings: Lilian, Josephine, Nuzo, Gabriel, Stella, Christian, and Josef. She attended Ackworth School in Pontefract, St Andrews College in Cambridge, and Cambridge Tutorial College, where she completed her A-levels.
She quickly began a mixed honours degree in Politics, Economics, and Law at the University of Buckingham, but changed to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, after her father, a lawyer by profession, suggested she focus entirely on law and join the family business.
Following graduation, Odumegwu-Ojukwu attended Nigerian Law School, which led to her admission to the bar.
Career
Bianca briefly practiced law after graduating from law school before leaving to focus on her house, her cosmetics company Bianca Blend, and her interior design firm Mirabella. Despite her qualms about modelling, Bianca Onoh starred in print advertising for her company.
She also founded the non-governmental organisation Hope House Trust, which focuses on rehabilitating juvenile offenders in Enugu. Bianca is a diplomat, lawyer, businesswoman, beauty pageant titleholder, and international pageant winner.
She is also the Chairman of the Mayrock Memorial Foundation. In December 1988, Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who had previously won Miss Martini in her teens in England, competed in and was crowned Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, but reigned for the majority of 1989.
She also won the Miss Africa 1989 pageant in Gambia, representing her country at Miss World in Hong Kong and Miss Universe in Mexico. That same year, she became the first African to win Miss Intercontinental and was voted Miss Congeniality at Miss Charm in Russia, where she also advanced to the semi-finals. She won the global Miss Intercontinental pageant.
President Goodluck Jonathan named Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs in 2011, and she became Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana in 2012, followed by the Kingdom of Spain.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu earned her master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Spain’s Alfonso X el Sabio University in 2016. She also has a Diploma in Human Rights and International Relations from the Berg Institute and a Diploma in Conflict Dynamics and Cooperation from the University of Peace in Costa Rica.
She is Nigeria’s permanent representative at the United Nations World Tourism Organisation. On October 23, 2024, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reshuffled his government, appointing Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Her late spouse created the political party. It has held political power in Anambra State for almost two decades.
Awards
Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu was awarded the Certificate of Merit by El Mundo Diplomatico for her efforts to create efficient forums for constructive engagement between Nigeria and Spain, and she was named Africa’s Outstanding Ambassador by Dutch magazine The Voice in 2014.
She was also presented with the “Ambassador of Excellence” Award by the Government of Anambra State, Nigeria, at its Silver Jubilee celebration in 2016.
She serves on the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, the political party created by her late husband, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and which has retained political power in Anambra State for more than ten years.
Her bid to represent her senate district in 2018 was halted because of issues during her party’s primary elections. She is currently the secretary of the Truth, Justice, and Peace Commission, which was established in 2022 to study the core causes of violence, insecurity, and separatist agitations.
In South-Eastern Nigeria, as well as a member of the Governing Council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), which is named after her husband, and the Governing Board of Christian Chukwuma Onoh College of Education (CCOCE), which was founded in honour of her father.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu married her husband in a spectacular wedding ceremony in Abuja on November 12, 1994, after a relationship dating back to 1989. Bianca was 27 and Emeka was in his 60s.
Emeka, her husband of nearly 17 years, died in the United Kingdom in 2011 following a brief illness at the age of 78. The couple has three children: Chineme, Afamefuna, and Nwachukwu.
She adds that, while she was pleased to have discovered her spouse, she would not advise her daughter to make the same decision regarding marital engagement.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu possesses numerous traditional titles in her native area, including the highest chieftaincy title granted to women in her territory. Her sister, Lilian Onoh, was Nigeria’s ambassador to the Republic of Namibia.
